BÜFA Chemicals is part of the BÜFA group, a medium-sized family business from Oldenburg with 600 employees. The company trades in chemicals and offers its customers associated services such as filling, quality assurance, logistics and storage. The BÜFA product range comprises around 49,000 articles.
This year, the company focused on digital solutions for new sales channels and implemented the first e-commerce business in the group. BÜFA has opted for the innovative features of Shopware 6 for its first B2B shop chemiekaufen.de.
The store currently has around 600 articles in seven product categories and the range is to be constantly expanded in the future.
The chemicals are currently only available to buy online in Germany. In addition to the shop, traditional sales channels include direct sales in the field and in the office. The company also operates at an international level through these channels. BÜFA also operates several landing pages on special topics and makes use of its presence in the industry-specific search engine chembid.
Shopware impressed BÜFA on several levels. The Shopware Enterprise Edition offered the required B2B features such as rights and role management, individual customer prices and an offer feature. In addition, the family business valued the widespread popularity and public approval of the shop system, as well as its extensive ecosystem.

Some products in the online store present a special challenge for the shop software, as the company offers various chemicals that are subject to legal control regulations. This requires information from customers before certain products can be purchased. The information process is now handled by Shopware 6 in the online store.
The groundwork, such as strategic considerations and setting up a PIM system, took quite some time. Still, the online store was able to go live after just seven months of active work on the shop project with Shopware Enterprise partner HEPTACOM. The aftercare that followed took three more months to complete.
Looking back, the chemical supplier is very satisfied with the cooperation of all parties involved: “Our collaboration with Shopware and the Shopware agency has always worked extraordinarily well! In HEPTACOM we have found a very capable agency that excels at implementing our ideas on customisation. And working together on something new has been a lot of fun, both on a personal and a professional level,” concludes Vincent Petri.

The company is currently working on connecting its own REST API to the industry-specific search engine chembid and is also evaluating the possibility of connecting customers' ERP systems to the shop in order to reduce media disruptions.
